Youth Media Programs
Our art show on December 7 was a month ago, but we’re still thinking fondly about what a great success it was! Here’s some photos from that night. Over 30 young artists participated and we had a great turnout. Look forward to more art events at Rhino’s in 2013!
Rhino’s Youth Center, in partnership with the Bloomington Arts Commission, presents a youth art show and open house on December 7th. Join us on the first Friday in December for a group show of multimedia work created at Rhino’s by a diverse and creative lineup of teen artists. Come see what we’ve been busy creating in our Youth Media Programs over the past few months – screen-prints, paintings, murals, videos and more!
Gallery show from 7-10 PM, with musical performances by Tammar, Erin Tobey and Ella Poletti at 7:30 PM. Refreshments provided by The Owlery bakery.
Before the art show, come visit Rhino’s in the afternoon for our Youth Media Program Open House from 3-6 PM. Rhino’s offers free media programs to teens ages 13-18 every weekday from 3-6 PM, providing free supplies, mentorship and training in visual art, writing, radio and video production. Come visit and learn more about what we do!
Youth Radio talks sleep and dreams. We discussed what nightmare means to us, our aspirations, interviewed people on the streets about their sleeping habits, some folks kept a dream journal, and more! This program originally aired Saturday, November 3rd on WFHB and is Episode 10 of the Mixed Nuts podcast
We are proud to announce that Rhino’s was one of 14 local nonprofits awarded a grant from the City of Bloomington Arts Commission. Our approved proposal is for an Art Show & Youth Media Programs Open House on December 7, to be held at Rhino’s. We will be showcasing the efforts of all four programs by presenting a multi-media art show and music performance. We will also have an open house from 3-6 PM to encourage new participants and their families to come check us out. More details soon!
The Rhino’s kids talk all things edible – food horror stories, Nikkia’s interviews her grandma about growing up on a farm, a visit with some traveling animal rights activists, the importance of salt in human history and much more! This program originally aired Saturday, October 6 on WFHB and is Episode 9 of the Mixed Nuts podcast, available internationally via iTunes and Stitcher Smart Radio.
